A new dawn for Baseball Softball UK

The opening of Farnham Park Sports Ground

The 20th July will welcome a new sports venue in Buckinghamshire as Baseball Softball UK celebrates the opening of Farnham Park Sports Ground, a purpose built venue with baseball and softball diamonds.

An opening ceremony is being held at Farnham Park which is being hosted by Colin Murray, BBC's three-time Sony Gold winning radio broadcaster, TV presenter and baseball fan. The event is a special celebration of baseball and softball in the UK, and the creation of first dedicated baseball and softball complex in the country. Baseball Softball UK is inviting anyone with an interest in the sport to come along and join in. Admission is free for the whole event.

Starting at 1pm, events are being held throughout the day with the opening ceremony taking place at 3pm and this will be followed by showcase games of baseball, fastpitch softball and slowpitch softball. There will be a batting cage where people can try out their swing and a pitching tunnel to see how fast they can throw with speed being measured using a radar gun. The Baseball Shop/The Softball Shop will also be at the event for anyone to purchase new equipment and there will be a full range of hot and cold catering as well as a bar selling alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

Over the course of both Saturday and Sunday, the softball diamonds will be occupied by one of the British Softball Federation's flagship events, the annual Single Sex Slowpitch National Championships, contested by men's and women's slowpitch teams from around the country.
