Windsor and Maidenhead Softball Development League

In order to meet the growing demand for softball in the local area, the Windsor and Maidenhead Mixed Softball League are creating a new development league to be held each Wednesday night from the 21st May at Farnham Park in Slough.

You will probably have watched some Major League Baseball before; pitchers throwing the ball at 100mph, batters hitting it 400 feet, runners sliding into bases and fielders diving across the turf to make catches. Softball is a lot like baseball in terms of the rules, but because the ball is pitched slowly to each batter, it's easier to hit the ball and succeed at the sport's central skill.

The fact that men and women play together in the same team and on an equal level gives the sport a social buzz. It is a recreational game that's easy to learn and play, even for people who don't normally consider themselves 'athletes'. Whether you are good at batting, running, throwing or catching, there will be a place for you on a softball team.

Qualified coaches and umpires from across the league will be on hand to provide training and advice, so if you're new to the game you'll be given all the support you need to develop your skills. The development league is for anyone aged over 14 and costs only £3 per person per evening.
