The Marlow Mariners played their first home game at their own home ground, the Marlow Sports Club, and their first game without rain, but still succumbed to their third consecutive defeat in the Windsor and Maidenhead District Mixed Softball League.
Fielding is starting to improve as the Mariners are gaining a greater awareness of what their positioning should be, and confidence is still high. No more epitomised than by Natalie who made some superb catches to keep the Blue Jays' score down while the play of the game was an excellent double play thanks to Steve at first base who ran out the batter before throwing the ball to home plate to prevent another run being scored.
Batting is continues to be strong for the Mariners, but this will need to be converted into runs during future games. A total of five runs scored by the home team did not reflect the batting and the final score was 26-5 in favour of the Blue Jays.
The next game will see Marlow travel to Farnham Park where they will take on the Rattlesnakes as they seek to shrug off the disappointment of the last three games and complete their first league win.
